A precisely fitted oak-veneered composition that gives a compact hallway an elegant hanging space while preserving the calm lines of a renovated Central London flat.
The commission
Giving the hallway a purpose.
The brief was to improve an underused hallway during the flat renovation without narrowing the circulation space. A made-to-measure wall of natural oak veneer creates an immediate place for coats while reading as a continuous architectural surface.
The design solution
Hanging space, without visual clutter.
Horizontal veneer panels establish a measured rhythm across the wall, while the perimeter framing aligns with the adjacent door and skirting. Sculptural hooks introduce colour and individuality, turning daily storage into a deliberate feature rather than an afterthought.
In detail
One material language.
The panelling, door surround and lower junctions are resolved together so the new work belongs to the flat. Consistent oak grain brings warmth to the circulation space and helps the compact hallway feel composed rather than crowded.
