THE PIECE

The Vanity

A freestanding vanity unit in soft sage green, sitting between a Victorian column radiator and a glazed shower screen. Three vertically reeded drawer fronts, hand-finished, with slim brushed-bronze pulls and slender black metal legs that lift the piece off the floor.

The basin sits flush within a white ceramic countertop, paired with a deck-mounted three-piece tap in dark bronze. A short tiled splashback grounds the piece against the wall.

The reeding runs the full height of the piece, including the side panels — so the vanity reads as a single sculptural object from every angle, not just from the front.

IN CONTEXT

A Room of Its Own

Set into a tight ensuite niche between radiator and shower, the vanity had to do the work of a fitted unit without looking like one. Freestanding legs and reeded sides give it the proportions of furniture rather than cabinetry — closer to a French commode than a bathroom fixture.

The sage green reads softly against the white tiled walls and pale floor, picking up cooler notes in the brushed-bronze hardware and warmer ones in the radiator. The piece holds the room together without competing with it.

IN DETAIL

The Drawer System

A closer look at the bespoke drawer engineering that allows full storage around the basin’s plumbing.

Standard vanities sacrifice a drawer to the basin’s plumbing — leaving a dead, drawer-fronted void where storage should be. This piece was built differently. The top drawer is a shallow tray. The middle drawer is U-shaped, designed in two parts that nest around the waste pipe so storage continues either side of the obstruction. The bottom drawer runs the full depth of the carcass. The result is a vanity that delivers the storage capacity of a piece twice its size — without the visual compromise of a dummy drawer front.
