Media Wall in Hackney, London
Warm wood grain, generous open shelves and a quiet run of cupboards bring television, books and everyday storage together beside a green-tiled fireplace.
The project
One wall for watching, displaying and putting away.
This bespoke media wall by Markou Design London brings a fitted TV bay, full-height open shelving and concealed base cupboards to a living room in Hackney, East London. The joinery sits alongside a green-tiled fireplace, with a natural wood finish connecting the television area and display bays.
A place for everything
A television bay within a wall of shelving.
The television occupies a lower bay within the shelving grid. Tall vertical divisions and horizontal shelves carry the composition towards the ceiling, leaving open space for books, ceramics and collected objects.
Below, a continuous run of handleless cupboard fronts provides closed storage. The wood grain carries across the doors, giving the lower cabinetry a calm, uninterrupted appearance.
In the detail
Natural texture beside deep green tile.
The shelving meets the fireplace as part of the room's wider composition. Warm wood tones sit against pale walls and glossy green tiles, while the slim shelf edges keep the full-height joinery visually light.
