The Hand of
the Maker

Marquetry is the practice of forming images and patterns from thin pieces of wood veneer, cut and assembled by hand into a single surface. It is one of the oldest decorative techniques in fine cabinetmaking, refined over centuries in the workshops of France, Italy, and England.

At Markou Design London, marquetry remains a hand process. Each piece of veneer is selected for its grain and tone, cut, fitted, and pressed into place — the kind of detailing that turns a piece of furniture into something more.
