Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our service—from the first design conversation to final installation.

17 questions · Clear answers
01What is bespoke fitted furniture?

Furniture designed and made specifically for your space — built to the exact dimensions of your room, not adapted from standard sizes.

02How long does the process take?

Every project is different. From initial consultation to installation, most projects take between 4 and 8 weeks.

03Do you offer design consultations?

Yes — we visit your home, discuss your requirements and provide detailed drawings before any work begins.

04What materials do you use?

We work with a range of materials and finishes chosen to suit each project. These are discussed and agreed with you during the design phase.

05Can I see past projects?

Yes — browse our portfolio for examples of completed work across fitted wardrobes, media walls, home offices and more.

06What if I have specific requirements?

Every project is bespoke by nature. Bring us your ideas — however specific — and we’ll design around them.

07How do I get started?

Simply get in touch via our contact page and we’ll arrange a home visit at a time that suits you.

08Is installation included?

Yes — we handle everything from design through to final installation.

09Can I customize designs?

Every piece is custom designed — there are no standard templates. Everything is made to your specification.

10How long do bespoke fitted wardrobes take to design and install?

Most projects move from initial consultation to installation in 4–8 weeks. The final programme depends on size, finish, design complexity and the workshop schedule, and is confirmed before manufacture begins.

11Can fitted wardrobes be built around uneven alcoves and chimney breasts?

Yes. We survey the room and make each wardrobe to its actual dimensions, allowing the joinery to be scribed around uneven walls, alcoves, chimney breasts and period details.

12Do you install fitted wardrobes throughout London?

Yes. We design, make and install across London and surrounding counties, with completed wardrobe projects in Arnos Grove, Harrow, Bromley, Wimbledon and Islington.

13What affects the cost of made-to-measure wardrobes?

Cost depends on overall size, construction, internal storage, materials, painted or veneered finish, hardware and installation requirements. We provide a project-specific quotation after reviewing the brief and room.

14Can you make wardrobes for sloping ceilings or awkward spaces?

Yes. Floor-to-ceiling, alcove and sloping-ceiling wardrobes are designed around the exact room rather than adapted from standard cabinet sizes.

15What internal storage can be included?

Options include adjustable shelves, drawers, long and short hanging, pull-down rails, shoe storage and tailored compartments. The layout is agreed during design.

16What happens during the home survey?

We measure walls, ceiling levels, skirtings and obstructions, discuss how you use the room, and review finishes and storage requirements. Detailed drawings are prepared before work begins.

17Is fitted wardrobe installation included?

Yes. Markou Design handles the fitted-wardrobe project from consultation and drawings through workshop manufacture and final installation.
